What is a Web 2.0? Whether your looking to learn about affiliate marketing or internet marketing or even just plain SEO. You probably hear the term web 2.0 thrown around alot. Simply put web 2.0 just refers to the new age of the internet. If you remember back to the 90's or even the early 2000's the web was primarily a place to read content. Since the evolution of social media and in my mind Myspace really kicked it off, the internet has been much more interactive. It's now a place you can post content yourself quickly and easily, it's a place you can play games, post polls, ask questions, and basically just interact with others. That is basically the definition of a web 2.0. In terms of how web 2.0 relates to SEO and affiliate marketing it more refers to a certain type of site, sites that invovle sharing. When people in affiliate marketing or even SEO refer to web 2.0's they are typically referring to websites like Tumbr, Pinterst, Instagram, Twitter, Weebly, Blogger, etc. Marketers like to use these sites because they are quick and easy to setup. They are free, they require no hosting or domains. And typically the type of sharing is more condensed. For an affiliate marketer it's time consuming writing a 500 word article. It takes only a few seconds to make 140 character tweet with a photo and drop in an affiliate link of where to buy that product for example. Should someone find your tweet interesting and click the link, the marketer then gets credit for and earns money for the sale. All with 140 characters, they don't have to write a full 500 word article. This is why affiliate marketers love and use web 2.0's which for the sake of this discussion are essentially social media and sharing sites.
