http://bit.lc/4UhV Eachine release a 90mm RTF FPV quad to join the sea of whoops and this is firmly aimed at Taranis users with Frsky RX, brushed 8.5mm brushed motors and running cleanflight. What's not to like? There's a no RX version if you wish to add your own but that would be fairly tight on space as the Frsky RX is miniature and narrower than a sat RX. The motors are simply held with friction inside a rubber grommet like the HK wisp and although they are fitted securely, it is possible to move them off perfectly vertical fairly easily. Stock props were so loose 2 of them flew off in a 10 second hover and just by the sound I can tell there is at least one badly off balance. It does not affect the smooth video captured however and the cam is perfectly decent to use inside and while not terrible with light changes, it wasn't wining any awards there either. The focus was very loose so needs securing with a dab of hot glue or similar. Basic cleanflight setup is needed such as endpoints, certainly on my TH9X with a Frsky DJT Module and mid points also before it would hover neutrally. PIDS, rates, expo etc are all stock along with all other settings such as loop time which is set at 1000. I did set up flight modes as only angle is setup by default with arm switch and aux 1 on channel 5 so have angle, horizon and rate mode on the 3 position switch. I'll balance the props and show it a few hedges and trees outside and see how these motors perform. They are 8.5mm and have enough power to float around whoop style but it's obvious they do not have the power of the dark edition motors. Lipos are Walkera polarity and type, labelled as 600mah and fit snugly betweenthe landing legs made from plastic standoffs. I used a small elastic band to sit behind the camera and secure the lipo which worked fine until I had a tumble so I will be adding a little bit of Velcro to the base too. I dislike the props in view but since this is a 90mm, there really not much you can do apart from tilt it way up and perhaps have to raise it too, i'll have an experiment and see if no props in view is possible. We have come a long way with what £50 can get you on this hobby and I still think everyone who flies FPV should have brushed micro of some sort. 3 or 4 of these on a small course would be bags of fun and a great intro to FPV without breaking the bank or being unsafe with a larger quad or having to even build anything.
